Government announces name change for Federal Magistrates Court of Australia

The Attorney-General has announced that the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia will be renamed. The term “Federal Magistrate” will also be changed to reflect the important role of these judicial officers in the Court system.

The reason behind the change is to separate the different functions of each of the separate federal courts and to establish a new Military Court of Australia.
